Amberley Playgroup is a friendly and lively community playgroup that has run successfully in Amberley, near Stroud in Gloucestershire for nearly 30 years.

Our aim is to provide a fun and stimulating environment where children can learn in the best way possible, through play and carefully planned activities that reflect their individual interests and needs.

The playgroup accepts children from the age of 2 years 6 months until school age.

Nursery Funding
For all children over 3 years old the cost of these sessions can be covered by the Nursery Funding provided by the Government, which entitles a child to up to 15 hours of Nursery Education. children are eligible for this funding from the term after they have turned 3. (This is in accordance with the government guidelines). Some working families can be eligible for 30 hours free funding. (Details can be found at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk). Eligible families may be entitled to 30 hours free funding from the age of 2.  For any additional hours over the funded 15/30 hours the charge is currently £7.50 per hour.. (from April 2026) Amberley Playgroup ask for no other financial contributions.

The playgroup sessions involve a wide variety of activities that have been carefully planned to be fun, stimulating and a great learning experience, often using the beautiful outside space that surrounds the building. So varied are our activities, there are too many to mention, but some of the regular fixtures are described here.
