Sladebank Woods

Sladebank Woods is a lovingly managed wildness close to Stroud town centre, in the heart of a lively neighbourhood. Just under five acres, it supports a wide range of trees, plants and wildlife. It features a small meadow and orchard and anyone is welcome to visit: there’s a public section open all year round where you can simply enjoy being in nature.

These woods are a fantastic asset to our local community and are managed by Martin and Kesty Jakes. Here you will find many regular events happening, allowing you to get back to nature and feel included in the up keep of the woods.

There are around 200 metres of wheelchair accessible pathway in the woods. You can get across Summer Crescent Park with a powered chair such as a Tramper Mark 3. We have access to one so can help you get in, and most larger powered chairs are fine as long as it's not wet. There is also an accessible compost toilet accessed with a RADAR key. It also has a key safe.If you would like details of how to get into the woods if you have any additional needs, or need the code to the toilet,  please do get in touch via the website,  or at sladebankwoods@gmail.com
Please also bear in mind that we do have occasional events in that area.We look forward to welcoming you.

PARKING – You can park on Summer Street and Summer Crescent at most times of the day. The main access to the woodland is through the Summer Crescent park. The entrance to the park is next to 8 Summer Crescent, GL5 1PP. There is pedestrian access at all times. Be mindful that Summer Crescent is on a local bus route.

Head to Summer Crescent Play Park/The Rec (Stroud GL5 1PP). If you are driving, please be considerate of our neighbours and park on Summer Street if Summer Crescent is lacking space. Once in The Rec, head up the hill keeping the fence on your left. Turn left at the top of the slope. After 30 metres you’ll see a small footpath up the bank on the right – this leads to Sladebank Woods. Please be aware that the paths are uneven and steep in places and may be muddy. Dogs are welcome too, but remember to remove any mess – leave only footprints and paw prints!
