Vyshyvanka Day is an international holiday that aims to preserve the Ukrainian folk traditions of creating and wearing ethnic embroidered shirts called Vyshyvankas. 

Saturday 18th May 2024 11am start

Cotswold Canals Connected has partnered with Stroudwater Textile Trust and Stroud Stands with Ukraine to bring you this exciting, free event which will involve a parade, traditional music and dancing, arts & crafts, and food & drink.  

The parade will start at 11am from St Laurence's Church and continue through Stroud town centre, before returning to the church where there will be lots of activities, refreshments and Ukranian cakes! At the church you will be able to watch various videos about Vyshyvanka and try your hand at the traditional embroidery, as well as cobweb embroidery, cabin lacing and rag rugging! 

We will also be joined on the day by  Acapellies, Svetlana,  Stroud Morris Dancers, Taras, Melania, Solomiya, The Downfielders,  Children from Ukrainian School, Kolo,  Bandura Group,  Katya
