Painswick Rococo Garden
Welcome to the beautiful sanctuary of Painswick Rococo Gardens - the only complete surviving rococo garden in the UK.
Painswick Rococo Garden is truly for everyone, we welcome all ages, cater for families and we LOVE your four-legged friends.
Come and admire these stunning gardens as they change and develop throughout the seasons, from the blankets of snowdrops offering us the first signs of Spring, the full blooms and plump trees of Summer, through to the warm rich autumnal hues as we wrap up warm and celebrate the cosiness of Winter.
For families, the freedom to explore with the children, letting them run free and enjoy nature is what we are all about. How can you not be entertained when we have all this to offer:
- The amazing maze
- Seasonal school holiday trails
- The rustic play area
- The fairy castle
- The quirky follies
- Our family-friendly café
The Painswick Rococo Gardens come alive every season and are host to many fantastic events throughout the year, keep an eye on Stroud Rocks Events page to see what is happening in Painswick Rococo Gardens this month.
Café and refreshments
Our Coffee Wagon is open, serving freshly ground coffee, hot chocolates, quality teas and delicious cakes. We also offer a variety of light lunches including paninis, cheese scones and salads. Enjoy these treats while exploring the Garden, sitting outdoors or relaxing in our tipi. The Café is open on days when the Garden is open, and currently closes at 4pm. Breakfast options are available from 10am, with lunch served between 12-2pm.
Access around the gardens
Paths are both steep and uneven, and only around a fifth of the garden is accessible to wheelchairs – you can view our access guide here
The steepest slopes all have handrails, and there are 45 benches dotted around the Garden for when you need to rest. The Garden isn’t suitable for motorised scooters, bikes or children’s scooters.
Reviews from other families:
"Rococo Garden in Painswick is pure magic. From the moment you step through the gates, you’re transported into a whimsical world of vibrant flowers, elegant follies, and peaceful woodland paths. The garden is beautifully maintained, with surprises around every corner—from the charming Red House to the playful maze and serene kitchen garden. It’s a perfect blend of history, horticulture, and romance.
We visited on a sunny afternoon and spent hours wandering, taking photos, and soaking in the atmosphere. The café serves delicious treats with friendly service, and the setting couldn’t be more picturesque. You can really feel the love and care that goes into this special place.
Whether you’re a garden lover, a history enthusiast, or just seeking a peaceful escape, Rococo Garden is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return in another season!"
